Turning 65 New to Basic Medicare?

Already collecting Social Security? Then you should receive your Medicare Card automatically 3 to 4 months before your birth month.

Not yet collecting Social Security? Then you will need to sign up for Medicare 3 months before the month you turn 65.

How to Sign Up? Go online to: www.SSA.gov and click; “Apply for Medicare”. (Social Security, runs Medicare paperwork). Or you can call the Social Security office and set an appointment by calling 800-772-1213.

Past 65 but now starting Basic Medicare Part B?

If you delayed past 65 to start Medicare Part B, then your process will be different (go to Frequent Questions). We should talk 3 months before you want Basic Medicare Part B to start.
